Hey there. Welcome! My name is Kristina, and I am the author and illustrator of "One Hundred Birds Telling One Hundred Little Stories" and "Letters to Lily." I'm so glad you're here!
Do you ever wonder what the birds are saying? Ever imagine yourself living inside of a poem you just wrote? I do—all of the time. For as long as I can remember, finding delight and comfort in my everyday surroundings has been my lifeboat. I love weaving my observations and imaginations into art and stories that bring people joy and heal those spots in their hearts that need tending to. I believe our stories matter and create deep connections in this world that often feels disconnected. I hope that you love my books and art as much as I loved creating them. Please, take a peek around. Both books are available to purchase here in my shop. I also have sweet birdy and flowery bookmarks, stickers, prints, and coffee mugs. And, sign up for my newsletter if you want to receive funny, inspiring stories, art updates, new product information, general silliness from me.
Thanks for visiting. I'm so happy you stopped in! xo
It's all quiet next door. It feels like the house is taking a breath, waiting for the next family to fill it up with kids, toys, dogs, tears, and laughter.
I stopped at the trail's end, where the soft ground ended and the pavement began. It was also where someone might have seen me flailing about...
Within these past 100 days, I returned to work full-time, the seasons changed, and my project is featured in a local magazine. I am still determining when it became apparent that What the Duck evolved to pull my other unfinished pieces together and fill in the blanks to my next book, The Art of Leaving.
The 2024 100 Day Project begins this Sunday, February 18th, and this is me officially announcing my project. I wasn't sure if I was up for doing it this year, and honestly, I'm still trying to figure it out, BUT I will start and see what happens.
My project is titled "What the Duck".
Why "What the Duck"?
"Kristina Henson's books are a breath of fresh air and a balm for the soul. Her take on the world
around her–nature, family, and day-to-day life–is funny, insightful, and relatable, and the watercolors that
accompany her musings are a delight all their own. Letters to Lily is a lovely follow-up to the laugh-out-loud
One Hundred Birds Telling One Hundred Little Stories. Whether you read straight through or a little
at a time, you will come back again and again to re-read the parts that resonate.
